Farideh Golbahar (b. 1942, Persian/Israeli) “About Landscape II” is a color giclee, hand signed and numbered (5/15) in pencil in the lower margin. The image is from the series created between 2002 and 2006. The 23.5 x 27-inch sheet has been elegantly matted and framed, so that the work of art measures 31 x 34 inches. Provenance is the Michael Hittleman Gallery in Los Angeles that was known for exhibiting a broad range of Israeli fine art ranging from the early pioneers to the leading avant-garde artists.
Farideh depicts landscapes and florals in variations that are infinite and in repetitive pattern. The original oil on paper versions of the “About Landscape” series consist of multiple panels arranged edge to edge in which one panel represents an entire garden and the rest are a variety of interpretations of the color and scheme, flower and landscape, in intricate and delicate patterns.
From the Michael Hittleman Gallery website: “Farideh is a Jerusalem-based painter and watercolorist who brings an oriental sensibility to an acute knowledge of western art traditions and Israeli art history. Her works evoke Monet, Degas and the Nabis as well as Israeli masters like Zaritsky and Streichman. Her still lifes and landscapes with sunsets are modern neo-impressionist masterworks. The Persian love of gardens saturates her works.”
