Lisa Mee (b. 1974, American) “Sun Over the Ardeche Gorge, France” (2020) is an original mixed media work of acrylic and metallic paint on canvas measuring 24 x 30 inches unframed and hand signed in the lower right. The piece is on stretch canvas and is ready to hang. Outstanding for its complexity and detail, this work of art was inspired by the area locally known as the "European Grand Canyon." This part of France is remarkable for its geological and archaeological heritage and is teeming with an abundant wealth of flora and fauna. Bright, bold shades of reds, golds, and blues are seen beneath the vibrant sun. The piece is enhanced by the artist’s wonderful metallics. Lisa describes her art as Contemporary Expressionism while simultaneously fusing and merging other painting styles into her own unique creations.
A native of the New York-New Jersey area, contemporary artist Lisa Mee creates mixed media paintings that integrate metallic paints, papers, fabrics, and metals. She endeavors to create a luminous appearance of light and depth with a stained glass and mosaic appearance in her paintings. She has been inspired by her husband, artist Wayne Ensrud, and his mentor, Oskar Kokoschka, as well as masters, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso. Her art has been exhibited by the International Art Museum of America in San Francisco CA, an institution that has purchased examples of her work. Mee is represented by several art galleries and has exhibited in many more. Lisa’s unique works have been acquired by numerous important art collectors in New York City as well as Europe and are found in both corporate and private collections.
