Lisa Mee (b.1974, American) “Flowing Brook in Vermont” (2020) is an original mixed media work in acrylic, metallic paint and paper on canvas. It measures 30 (horizontal) x 24 (vertical) inches unframed and is hand signed in the lower right. The piece is on stretch canvas and ready to hang. Outstanding for its complexity and detail, this work of art was inspired by the breathtaking views and colors in Vermont. Boldly colored trees and leaves surround the fluid running water represented by shades of blue adorned by brightly hued, metallic-outlined shapes of items found in and around the stream. Lisa describes her art as Contemporary Expressionism while simultaneously fusing and merging other painting styles into her own unique creations. This work of art reflects her special creativity, light, and wonderful use of bright contrasting colors. In 2020, Lisa Mee explained to us that, “… I attempt to recreate a stained-glass effect on canvas – it’s a unique technique I came up with using metallic paints.”
A native of the New York-New Jersey area, contemporary artist Lisa Mee creates mixed media paintings that integrate metallic paints, papers, fabrics, and metals. She endeavors to create a luminous appearance of light and depth with a stained glass and mosaic appearance in her paintings. She has been inspired by her husband, artist Wayne Ensrud, and his mentor, Oskar Kokoschka, as well as masters, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso. Her art has been exhibited by the International Art Museum of America in San Francisco CA, an institution that has purchased examples of her work. Mee is represented by several art galleries and has exhibited in many more. Lisa’s unique works have been acquired by numerous important art collectors in New York City as well as Europe and are found in both corporate and private collections.
