The Pointers Sisters are a pop/R&B group originally consisting of four sisters: Ruth (1946), Anita (1949), Bonnie (1950), and June (1953). They were popular in the 1970’s and 1980’s due to their lyrical content, melodic structure, and the hypnotic nature of their rhythms. Their audiences were inspired to dance, to love and to sing with abandonment. The group has won three Grammy Awards and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1994. They had 13 US top 20 hits between 1973 and 1985.
