Marcel Janco (1895-1984, Romania/Israel) “Table aux Fruits” (Table with Fruit) 1974 limited edition color lithograph, pencil signed in the lower right, titled in French in the lower left, and designated “Epreuve d’artiste” (artist’s proof) in the lower center. The image is approximately 17 x 23 inches and with full margins, the sheet is 19.25 x 26.5 inches. The work of art has been double-matted and framed, measuring a total of 24.5 x 30.5 inches. A multi-color still life consisting of abstract and cubic elements that compose the table and a variety of fruits.
Janco contributed to the Expressionist and Dadaist movements and also painted abstract reliefs, combining expressionism and cubism. He worked in architecture and was active in artists groups as a founder of the 1948 of New Horizons Group and a 1953 founder of the artists village, Ein Hod in Israel in 1953. In 1967 he was awarded the Israel Prize for Painting. Janco exhibited in many important exhibitions around the world.
