Totem n2 (Dollar Girl)

Lina Russo, "Totem n2 (Dollar Girl)” Oil on canvas painting created in 2021 by the Italian-born, NYC-based contemporary artist. The piece measures 22 x 18 inches and is on a heavy stretch frame. The work of art is an example of Russo’s foray into creation of characters for the digital dimension of NFT’s and the Metaverse. Note the woman’s eyes appearing as the U.S. dollar sign symbol in yellow inside the circular green eyes.

In the words of the artist, “I′m thinking a lot about the Metaverse and if I can claim some of its real estate for my new digital endeavors. I see myself creating ideas not just JPEGs and minting them as NFTs. This is a brave new digital dimension that I can′t wait to fully embrace.”

The image has also been made available as a limited-edition print (XX/75), NFT, and on ladies’ tank tops and tee shirts.

Lina Russo was born in Italy and is now based in New York. She is renowned for her diverse creative skills, including as an oil painter, sculptor, photographer, and mixed-media works. In her own words, “…I communicate my personal history across time and place through my art. My pieces are varied and complex, can be interpreted in endless ways, and are inspired by the deepest parts of my soul, which can only be expressed through my craft.”
