Wayne Ensrud (b. 1934, USA) “Don’t Worry Bout Me” (2016) is an 18 x 24-inch acrylic, paper and fabric mixed media painting on canvas signed, dated and titled (“Nov 6, 2009 / 3:18 pm; “Don’t Worry Bout Me 2-17-2016”) on the verso by the artist. (Ensrud is willing to sign it on the front for the buyer.) Note the use of bright, vivid colors in this contemporary abstract painting.
The title of this work of art is a reference to a song. Ensrud has been a life-long jazz afficionado and listens to music while he paints. The improvisational sounds, rhythms, and freedom of jazz have influenced his vibrant painting style, and at times, he takes the titles of songs as the titles of his paintings. His abstract paintings are innovative paintings not meant to represent 'things' or 'places' but are balanced optical spatial explorations of light and color meant to affect viewers like uplifting music. Wayne sometimes notes the date and time on the back side of his canvases when he begins them. This work was finished on the 2016 date. It is a kind of quirky 'good luck' act on his part.
Wayne Ensrud is an internationally known and acclaimed artist who has had over 60 exhibitions in the United States, Europe, Mexico and Japan. The multi-talented painter has also worked as an art director, animator, and art teacher.
