Max Papart (1911 – 1994, French) “Chant 2” (Song) (1966) Original color lithograph on paper; signed in pencil in the lower right margin and numbered 184/275 in the lower left margin. Featured are abstract, vibrant figures in contrasting colors. The image measures 18.5 x 25 inches, and the sheet has been matted and placed in a metallic frame (some wear on the frame) that measures 23.5 x 29.5 inches. On the verso is a printed biography of the artist and an Authentication from the publisher, The Collector’s Guild, Ltd. Max Papart was a French painter and printmaker. Many of his works are in the Cubist style, as well as abstracts and mixed techniques, and collage. He has worked in painting, lithographs, etchings, aquatints, and engraving. Papart’s works are in the permanent collections of Museum of Modern Art and the Bibliothèque National in Paris, the British Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, and major fine arts museums across the United States.
