Banana Drive (5 Days on the Road)

Jim Warren (b. 1949, California) “Five Days on the Road” (aka ‘Banana Drive’; ‘Long and Winding Road’; ‘Sad Bananas’; “Banana Men”) Limited- edition color giclee on canvas, hand signed and numbered 1/15 AP (artist’s proof) in pigment in the lower left. The 40 x 32-inch work of art is presented on stretch canvas stapled to wood and is ready to hang as is. The piece is in good condition with some minor surface soiling and a small hairline crack in the lower left.

The image is one of Warren’s more humorous surreal works. It features two oversized, partially peeled bananas with faces. The pair are leaning up against a hill on the side of a mountainous road at dusk and are observing the yellow Mustang convertible that is driving along toward the partial banana peels blocking the road.
