Age of Aquarius

Irving Amen (1918 – 2011, American) “Age of Aquarius” – Limited edition etching with aquatint in colors, pencil signed, titled, and numbered (14/200) in the lower margin by the artist. The image measures 17.5 x 14 inches; the sheet is 23 x 18 inches, and with the mat and frame, the work of art is 28.25 x 22.25 inches. Depicted is a mother holding her young daughter in her arms. The words, “In the Age of Aquarius” appear in the upper right corner of the image.

In addition to sculpture and painting, Irving Amen was a master printmaker who produced thousands of woodcuts, etchings, lithographs, and serigraphs. Women and children were among the many subjects of his artwork. Other titles of his parent-child images include: “Mother and Daughter”, “Blue Light”, “Tenderness”, and “Awakening #2.”
