Anatole Krasnyansky (b. 1930; Ukraine, American) “Pierro with Doll” (1997) Limited-edition color serigraph on wove paper, twice signed and numbered 6/350 by the artist in ink. This cleverly allows for display of the artwork in either a horizontal or vertical position. The sheet measures 31.5 x 46 inches, and it has been beautifully matted and enclosed in a frame covered by plexiglass that measures 42 x 56.5 inches. This image with two faces is set against a gray/pink/purple/ background. Another version of the same image, issued in 2003 as “Pierro with Doll II” is set against a pink background and is smaller in size. Literary Reference: PWAK 126; The work of art appears in the A. Krasnyansky has created art in two distinct styles: old world architecture and imaginative surrealism. He expresses himself in the “old” with historical reference and structure based on his classical art and architecture education and training. He expresses himself in the “new” with surreal, masked, animated, joyous and colorful harlequin characters.
