Sam Francis (1923 – 1994, American) Untitled - An abstract black and multi-color (unsigned) poster. The image itself measures 32 x 25 inches and is surrounded by a 3.5-inch linen mat and 2.5-inch black frame; total size is 49 x 36 inches. The work of art is ready to hang and is in good condition with minor discoloration in the matting. The image was used in a 1979 offset lithograph poster advertising the ‘Sam Francis Paintings and Drawings 1967-1968’ exhibition at Ace Gallery in Canada. The exhibit ran from February 11, 1979 through March 1979 and was the artist’s first major showing of his work in the Pacific Northwest. Sam Francis was a celebrated California abstract expressionist artist known for his exuberantly colorful, large-scale abstract painting and prints.
