Fanch (Francois) Ledan (b. 1949, France) - "Interior with Magritte" (1999) is a Limited-Edition Serigraph, numbered (41/350) and Hand Signed by the artist in the lower right margin. This image measures 25 x 30 inches, and with matting and frame, the artwork measures 36 x 41.5 inches. Featured is the view from the interior of an apartment leading out of the open balcony doors and beyond to the colors and lights of a moonlit Paris. This is an example of Fanch’s “interiorscapes” that have a romantic mood and invite the onlooker to enter the room. There is whimsy and technical detail in the scene. Note the theme of crescent moons featured in the night sky as well as in the artwork on the walls. Fanch pays homage to surrealist Rene Magritte with a depiction of his 1966 work called, “The Happy Donor” and the smaller piece is Magritte’s “Sixteenth of September” (1956). The same crescent moon shape is repeated on the knobs on the chest of drawers. Although no one is seen in the room, a book on the floor titled, “Paris Mysteries” appears to have been temporarily left by its reader. The view outside is strikingly similar to Fanch’s own 1990 work called, “Windows on Paris.” A Certificate of Authenticity from Park West Gallery is included.
