The Sleep #1

Michael Escoffery, “The Sleep #1” (1997) is a pencil and colored pencil drawing on paper by the noted Jamaican American artist. The work of art was created in Escoffery’s New York studio and is signed and titled in the lower right, with the artist’s blind stamp in the lower left. The 6 x 10-inch piece has been matted and framed measuring 17.5 x 19.5 inches. Primarily a painter of women, the Caribbean artist was inspired by the female form to create this tasteful, elegant sleeping nude. His work has been seen in 200+ solo exhibitions, 300+ group shows, and can be seen on the walls of Congress as well as in U.S. embassies in more than 40 countries.
