This work of art utilizes recurrent themes In Basquiat’s unique style: heads, figures, words and symbols to depict the figure of a man with an African mask-like face (himself), with dreadlocked hair flowing in the wind, exposed teeth and flared nostrils. Does the title refer to a contemptible person (heel) or a tribal “heal”-er?
