Judge / Le Bilboquet

Georges Rouault (1871-1958, French) Rare lithograph from 1925, hand signed and numbered (35/56) in pencil in the bottom margin. The image measures 12.5” x 9”, has full margins, and is encased in a glass frame measuring 20” x 16.25.” The work of art has been alternatively referred to as “Judge” and “Le Bilboquet” presumably due to the object held by the man in the portrait. It appears to be a gavel-like instrument that also resembles the toy used in the classic cup-and-ball game a/k/a Kendama. There is pale toning and small white discoloration spots, otherwise the piece is in apparently good condition. Shipping is free in the USA.
