Marc Chagall (1887-1985, Belarus/France.) "Vence. Cite des Arts et des Fleurs, 1954" is an offset lithograph of a poster by Marc Chagall. The illustration was originally created as a watercolor to celebrate Easter (fetes de Paques)in the town of Vence, the "city of arts and flowers," in the south of France. The image was then printed by Fernand Mourlot in 1954 in poster form, some without reference to the Easter holiday; and a reduced lithographic version was printed in 1959. Measurements are 9.75 x 13.25 inches; with frame, it is 13" W X 18"H. The Artist signature is in print at the bottom right of the image. Reference: Mourlot 92; MP 9.
