Flower Seller

Louis Icart (1888-1950, France.) "Flower Seller" (1928) dry point etching with watercolor on paper. It depicts an elegant young lady and a flower vendor in Paris. In very small text is the following: "Copyright 1928 Louis Icart, Paris" (top left,) and published by "Les Graveurs Modernes, 194 Rue de Rivoli, Paris" (top right.) It is hand signed (LR,) and has the "Louis Icart, Paris" windmill stamp embossed in the lower left. Next to the stamp, but barely legible, appears to be a number (274?) in pencil. This is a very large piece (38" x 32",) beautifully framed, and matted.

Louis Icart - Correctly pronounced “EE-cah”, most Americans say “Eye-Cart." The name conjures images of beautiful women in 1920's and 1930's Paris and New York of the Art Deco era.
