Michael Albert (b. 1966) “The 19th Amendment” (2007–2008) is a poster collage by the American Pop artist created in honor of women’s suffrage and granting the right to vote to women in the USA. The work of art is hand signed and dated 2009 by Michael Albert. The image is 20" by 30" and has been matted and framed, now measuring 25.5 x 37.5 inches.
It took the artist 6 months to create this work using images of a variety of women taken from media sources, packaging, and all sorts of printed matter. Notably pictured are Betty Crocker, The Girl Scouts, Shirley Temple, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia, Betty Boop, and many more.
The words featured are the exact text, "The 19 Amendment - The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States of America or by any state on account of sex. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate proposed legislation on June 4, 1919. Ratified on Aug 18, 1920."
