Leonardo Nierman (b. 1932, Mexico) “Ravel” (1976) from the ‘Sound of Color’ Portfolio is an original limited- edition color lithograph on Arches paper with embossing. It is signed in the lower right margin and numbered Xiii/Lxxx (13/80) in pencil in the lower left margin. The image measures 24 x 18 inches and the work of art has been matted and framed measuring 39 x 27.25 inches. Maurice Ravel was a French composer noted for melody, orchestration, and harmony. Leonardo Nierman’s study of music and having played the violin had an influence on his painting and sculpture in which he portrays movement and harmony in his artwork. The ‘Sound of Color’ is a suite of five lithographs that pay homage to composers Ravel, Bach, Debussy, Mahler and Stravinsky.
